Pocket Stones are, as the name implies, small enough to carry around in one’s pocket. Typically they measure 1” to 1.5” in length, although an occasional one might be a little larger or smaller. Stones of this size are often used in jewelry, as pendants or as pendulums, in medicine bags, etc.

Holding/Traveling Stones measure 2” to 2.5” in length, and they are great for holding because they fill the palm of the hand, but do not overwhelm it. The stone is completely enveloped in the closed hand, in essence, temporarily becoming one with its host.

Personal Care Stones measure 3” to 3.5” in length, and are often used for various medicinal practices such as massage, laying-on of stones, medicine wheels, and the like. These stones can also be found on personal altars, although a slightly larger stone is usually preferred.

Stones for Meditation measure 4” to 5” tall in an upright position. This is the size that’s most often preferred for meditation because, in the typical case, its energy is in balance with the energy of the meditant. (The average tends towards the lower end of the stated range; 4” to 4.5” seems to be the ideal size for most people. Some opt for stones in the range 4.5” to 5”, but very, very few choose stones less than 3.75” in length. These conclusions are the result of our observations of thousands of adoptions.)

In the following classifications there is a greater range of individual preference than for the smaller stones. We know people who have more than twice as large a stone in their entry, and do not feel at all that the stone overwhelms the space. “Nothing is wrong, but thinking makes it so” as Shakespeare so eloquently stated. Therefore we give the following classifications with only a short description of what is “typical”, allowing wide leeway for individual preferences

Small-Space Stones are of the level of energy suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and other spaces of that general size. These stones stand 5.5” – 6.5” tall in an upright position.

Medium-Space Stones measure 7” to 8” tall in an upright position; generally suitable for a bedroom, small family room or office, and the like.

Large-Space Stones range in size from 8.5” to 9.5” and are suitable for an average living room or office.

X-Large Stones measure 10” to 11.5” tall and a stone of this size would be suitable for large living room, a small garden space, or a small house.

Giant Stones:  We have a good supply of stones in sizes 12” to 20” in stock at all times, and larger stones are also occasionally available.
